Jack has decided that he wants to take cooking lessons from me. I'm honored that he picked me as a teacher, and also happy to get to share something that I love with him. He picked a few recipes from some of my cookbooks for us to make together. This first one- pictured below- was empanadas. We made the dough and then added the filling. We thought they were pretty good, and came up with a few ways to improve next time. Since then we've made smores popcorn balls and a homemade apple pie (for Sean's birthday) which we were quite impressed with. The whole family will be benefiting from this activity!

Max's drawing
Today Max said he wanted to draw a "guy". He gave his guy arms, eyes, hair a mouth and then a nose. Can you see them? This kid is learning and growing so fast!
Kids Castle
Max had his first trip to Kids Castle and loved it! It really is a fun playground. Sean and Jack enjoyed it too! I liked having helpers to follow Max into all the little nooks and crannies in this old, wooden playground.
April 2013- a month outside
Spring arrived this month! We have thoroughly enjoyed our backyard- spending every moment that is warm and dry enough playing, working and hanging out there. Oh, and lots of sword fighting!

March 2013
The snowiest month: making Max's first snowman, muffin mania, Jack and Max dying eggs,
and Easter morning.
February 2013
The shortest month: frosty mornings; Max's play- dress-ups, magnetic shapes designs, and foggy window doodles; and longer days.
January 2013
Welcoming in the new year: cooking with Max, playdough, weather ups and downs, New Year's 5K, playdates with Sofia, and messy fun.

December 2012
Winter season celebrations: getting the tree and making cookies with Rachel, a winter solstice walk where we set out our old gourds and birdseed for the animals, snow on Christmas eve, presents on Christmas morning, making homemade gifts for Max- gnomes and a jacket for Zeezee.
