11-11-11

Sean, Jack and I counted down a special mathematical calendar moment- 11:11 on 11/11/11.  It was a special moment, especially since we realized it wouldn't happen again for another 100 years.  At 11:11 we each silently made a special wish.

New Market Battlefield Trip

We went on a field trip to the New Market Battlefield.  We participated in the soldier program, so we learned a lot about the VMI cadets who helped the Confederate Army win this battle.  Here the "soldiers in training" are marching across the field- just as the VMI cadets did in 1864.  Ahead you can see the Bushong farm, which was situated in the middle of the battle and served as a hospital.

Family Nature Walk (not a hike!)

The 5 of us took a short nature walk in Paul State Forest on a beautiful November afternoon.  Jack has an aversion to hikes, and wasn't excited about going, but he was willing to join us on this walk.  In the end, I think we all had a nice time.  Sean taught Jack how to whistle through an acorn cap; and we found some gorgeous leaves to bring home.   I loved having the 5 of us together on such a beautiful day and am hoping we can do it again sometime soon.

Halloween Fun!

The Alderfer Fisher Family held a Halloween Party on Halloween and it was so much fun!
This first picture shows how Max arrived- asleep and with his hand in his snack cup.
(No significant meaning- I just thought it was a cute picture.)

I was so impressed with all the decorations and food.  Notice the detailed placeholder!

My little pumpkin!  Even Max got prizes that day- maybe for being the cutest. :)

Sean won the "Guess the Candy Corn" game and got to take home 301 pieces candy corn.

11 months old - the countdown to Max's first birthday

It's amazing how much we all learn in that first year!  Months ago Max was working so hard at getting his hands to move the way he wanted.  Now he can pick something up and put it right into his mouth.  Everyone keeps saying his becoming a big boy, but of course he's still my baby.

Brother Fun

A Visit to Nanny's

Our homeschool group went on a field trip to the Green Bank Observatory in late October.  The boys and I stayed at Nanny and Tony's house, where Max had lots of fun exploring.
