Day One Hundred and Eighty Eight

Max at six weeks old.

Day One Hundred and Eighty Seven

Holiday preparations and celebrations have distracted me from taking pictures the past couple days.  To make up here are 4 from Christmas morning.

The first is 2 out of 3 of the boys awake at 8am on Christmas morning.  They opened presents as snow fell outside.

Max slept a good part of the day.  He slept through all the noise of the guys rearranging the family room and setting up the new TV.  We thought it was neat how his hands were positioned in this picture. They stayed that way for almost about 30 minutes.

Then he repositioned.  This reminded me of a flower turning towards the sun.

Here is the view from the top.  Our sweet boy!!

Day One Hundred and Eighty Six

Big smiles from Max (and Chris) as Chris played with his feet.

Day One Hundred and Eighty Five

Another view- a close-up of Max's ear, hair, nose and mouth.
It will be interesting to see how his profile changes over the next year.

Day One Hundred and Eighty Four

Max in the morning- taken with Chris's new phone.

Day One Hundred and Eighty Three

Jack had a cold last week and couldn't hold Max.  He decided when it was safe to hold him again- one day after he felt 100%.  This was the day, and he was excited to hold his little brother once again.

Day One Hundred and Eighty Two

The Cekadas brought us a meal - homemade chicken soup and homemade and decorated Christmas cookies.  This gave Brian and Michael a chance to meet Max.  The thing that boggled my mind was that I took care of both of them when they we just little guys.  How did they get so big?

Day One Hundred and Eighty One

Max puzzling over the camera in his face.
We were trying to get a picture of Max's early morning smiles that we've come to enjoy lately, but when Chris brought the camera out Max was distracted.  Still cute, though!

Day One Hundred and Eighty

Max at 4 weeks old

Day One Hundred and Seventy Nine

Jodi, Danny, Zoe, and Darcy visited for the weekend and this was the only picture we got!  We had a busy, fun-filled weekend!  Becky was here for one night, too, so there were 10 of us under one roof.
Reminds me of the book *The Relatives Came*.

Day One Hundred and Seventy Eight

Swaddled!
Kinda looks like a chrysalis or a pea pod.

Day One Hundred and Seventy Seven

This year's Christmas tree
We got it up and decorated in spite of a sick kid (one who vomited on the way home from cutting down the tree), a fussy baby (who slept in the Moby wrap as we decorated), and a teenager who dashed in at the last minute to add on his ornaments.  Chris and I think it's one of the prettiest trees we've had.

Day One Hundred and Seventy Five

Max at 3 weeks old
Someone at Chris's office suggested that we take a picture of Max everyday in the same place for a year.  This is a neat idea, but I don't think I can manage that.  But, I can take pictures of him regularly, so we can see how he changes over time.

Day One Hundred and Seventy Four

Sean's gingerbread house
The snowman has been eaten since this picture was taken.

Day One Hundred and Seventy Three

Christmas Tree Day
We got our Christmas tree at our favorite Christmas tree farm, which has a candy cane tree and free hot chocolate served in a spring house. Sean and Jack found the tree, but didn't want to pose for a picture.  So, Max and I posed.

Day One Hundred and Seventy Two

Max's first day at COW club.
COW, which stands for Community of Wonder, is our homeschool co-op, and has nothing to do with cows.  But, some of us have nicknamed Max *the calf*, since he is our newest addition.  He seemed to enjoy his first day, sleeping in the arms of Gayle, Anne and Elizabeth.

Day One Hundred and Seventy One

Happy December!
I had fun filling these little slots with riddles for small gifts and money tokens for the boys as we count down to Christmas.

Day One Hundred and Sixty Nine

A snapshot of my first day that Chris went back to work:
The remnants of a yummy dinner brought by a friend, my wonderful spillproof thermos that keeps my tea hot as I sip on it for hours, a breastfeeding book that I'm reading to stop Max from choking on my overactive letdown, a novel I had hoped to read, and papers with ideas for riddles for the advent calendar I'm working on filling for the Sean and Jack, and hand sanitizer since we're all working on washing our hands before we pick up the baby.

Day One Hundred and Sixty Eight

Big and Little Brother
Jack wanted a picture of his hand with Max's.  Here are 3 different versions.  My favorite is the last one.

Day One Hundred and Sixty Seven

Pumpkin hanging out with Chris.
It was unusual to see him sitting there, since it's not particularly warm like someones lap.  (I guess he'd been kicked off my lap a lot lately, since Max has taken over that spot.)  What is usual for Pumpkin, though, is that he didn't seem upset by the changes and was quite content in his new spot.
He truly is the Zen master of the house.

Day One Hundred and Sixty Six

Becky trying out the Moby wrap
This gave Becky a chance to hold Max a different way and enjoy him drifting between being awake and asleep.  We've all been enjoying the slower pace of these last 2 weeks and getting to hold Max a lot.

My Three Sons

Day One Hundred and Sixty Four

Chris singing to and dancing with Max.
Chris made a baby theme CD mix and here he is sharing one of the songs with Max.  We've all noticed that Max seems to notice and listen to music that is playing in the house.  He doesn't seem to have any preferences yet, just looks like he's paying attention.

Day One Hundred and Sixty Three

Talking to Max
He was awake and turning to the sound of our voices.

Day One Hundred and Sixty Two

Max's first trip out:
He went for a ride to take Jack to guitar lessons.
He didn't mind riding in the car seat and slept for most of the trip.

Day One Hundred and Sixty One

Max in the Moby wrap
I am loving the Moby wrap!  I can tuck him in and I have 2 hands free (I'm wearing him in it right now!).  It's almost like being pregnant- I find I move the same way.  Jack said it was like I was pregnant, but that we could peek in and see Max, and that now he is dressed.

Day One Hundred and Sixty

Max and 2 kitties
This is the most attention Pumpkin has given Max so far.  I think he just liked the sunny spot!

Day One Hundred and Fifty Nine

Max's arrival is bring lots of wonderful visitors to our home.

Day One Hundred and Fifty Seven

Tired, but happy.
We had a cozy day today, holding Max, feeding Max, resting and listening to music.  Pretty wonderful!

Day One Hundred and Fifty Six

Max's first day home.  Jack was thrilled to find Max at home when he got back from PE class.
Heather meets Max.   She's carrying 2 of Max's future friends, due to arrive in about 3 months.

Day One Hundred and Fifty Five

The Munchkin has arrived!
Max Christopher O'Brien was born on November 14 at 3:16am weighing 8.5 pounds.
Max's wild ride into my arms took only 8 hours once it started.  He was 5 days late, but he didn't waste any time arriving once he decided it was time.  He was born 45 minutes after we got to the hospital, and a few minutes before the midwife got there.  A wonderful nurse, Faith, caught him as he entered into the world.

Here is Max's paternal grandmother, Becky, taking her first look at Max.

Jack gave Max his old beloved blankie as Max's first birth day gift.

Maternal grandparents, Fred and Alyce, also visited Max on his birthday.
